Week 7… or 11.5 weeks before 11/5

Image
Yes, I know this only works if you refer to dates in the American way… we are 11.5 weeks away from 11/5, or Nov 5th, or NYC Marathon day!!! Lots of information received from Delphine who continued her training during holidays, ignoring all the canine dangers… she runs faster than those dogs 😅 Interesting that at the same time as you were looking for hydratation vests I was picking shorts with many pockets: for hydratation as well as gels and keys and credit card and phone, to run prepared for anything. I was initially looking for a running belt, but the same company producing the belts convinced me that I might as well add a short to the belt, cunning. So here it is: I ran several distances with it last week and that worked, not running faster but I can pay for my coffee at the end of the run. Last week was also when we had to select several options for the marathon, including transportation to the start line 🤩 it’s becoming real! It was great to see we both had the same options...

Semaine 7 en vacances à la tremblade

Image

Week 6 - training while hosting family!

Image
Week 6 was busy… I did host my cousin, Laura, her husband and 3 kids (5, 7, 9) and was supposed to be on holidays but had to work most of the days, and nights, in the end… and then I had to continue with the training! Don’t worry, all was completed, with several perks: - Nerina came with me running ´track workout’ one morning. We ran a few miles together and then she focused on recovery. - I ran my long run - only 10 miles - in NYC! I took pleasure running along the streets of Lower East and Brooklyn, on the Brooklyn bridge by myself for the sun rise and on the Williamsburg bridge with so many memories. After the run I realized I had run along mile 10 of THE marathon, so it was good training 😅 - the Friday run starts to increase, it went up to 7 miles this week, but it’s ok as my plan is exactly the same than Yvette’s so we just start earlier together, and it’s not yet dark in the mornings. More miles ahead in week 7, need to sleep more and drink more water, I did drop in the last 2 w...

Week 5 - Grateful for the company!

Image
This week the long run was 14 miles, and I remembered the first time I had to run more than a half marathon’s distance, for my first training: I was discussing with my dad to tell him the distance was impressive and I hoped I could make it! This time round I was still impressed, but I knew I could make it 😀. Still, I was glad for the company: we started on Saturday at 5.30am with Yvette, and joined the RAP (Run Around Princeton) group at 7 to continue with them. You don’t see the miles when you chat with friends, and we don’t always talk about running, believe me! As I was thinking about why I’m so grateful for RAP, I wanted to share the top 10 reasons you should join a running group:  10 top reasons to join a group run, from my experience: 1. You will get plenty of new friends, who are crazy enough to wake up at 5am to run with you. 2. You will receive lots of advice to improve on your run and all logistics around the run: food and fueling, shoes, clothes, … to the sunglasses! 3....
